Justice League 4 3/4″ Action Figure: Superman Figure

Justice League 4 3/4″ Action Figure: Superman FigureIn this figure, part of a series based on the Justice League television program, Superman looks just as strong and brave as ever. Although the design of the piece stays true to the look of that show, longtime Superman fans may find the Man of Steel’s proportions to be a bit alarming. His torso is so muscular that he looks as if he may have swallowed a small economy car, a Ford Fiesta perhaps. From the waist down, however, he’s actually quite slender with tiny feet that make standing nearly impossible. Fortunately Superman is rescued (there’s a switch) by a small plastic stand with a peg that is inserted into his foot. When all Justice League heroes are placed on their stands, the stands spell out “Justice League.” A three-image trading card is also included and can be inserted behind the figure. –Charlie Williams… More >>
Justice League 4 3/4″ Action Figure: Superman Figure

this is a very good toy but i would not recommend to many people because it seems like it has a very low educational rating. if you are not looking for a toy with education in the mix then this is soooo cool… i love the justice league and i believe others will too.
I am glad JLA:TAS finally got a line. I was dissapointed at the fact that there were no villans. Also what in the heck is the deal with these stands. I don’t care what the letters spell. Why are the figures in a 4.5″ scale? Not even the first toy biz Marvel SuperHeroes were that small. To quote The Hurricane: “Wassup wit dat?” The figures themselves look like they came right from an old N64 game. These figures do not give their cartoon counterparts justice at all. It’ true, it’s true.Plus the don’t have much posability to them. They should have a long shelf life as well as a long clearance life.
My 4yr old wasnt that thrilled after a couple of hours playing with this (and the Green Lantern figure I bought). Why? Because this Superman…
1. Is so stiff, it doesnt bend at the elbows and knees
2. Feels like the glued hard-rubber cape might fall off
3. Gets “bald” as the paint on its head and boots gets easily scratched away when it hits other toys
4. Is top-heavy and has a hard time standing on its own
Sadly, I think that its only redeeming factor is its very good likeness to the cartoon. Little kids tend to play rough, specially when superheroes battle it out with supervillains. Perhaps this toy was meant to be displayed only, and not actively played by little hands?
This Justice League line is pretty cool. The modelling is pretty good. Fans of the cartoon aren’t going to be disappointed. But….
Considering that there are action figures out there that are almost twice the size and twice the detail, Mattel could have definitely priced this toy a lot cheaper. It doesn’t have a lot of articulation (only at the hip, arms and neck). Do I care if it has a stand that spells out Justice League when all of the figures are put together? Not really…especially if it’s in that cheesy blue color.
