Justice League Unlimited 2009 SDCC San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive Action Figure 3-Pack Green Lantern Origins
At long last Hal Jordan joins Mattel’s Justice League Unlimited collection! In this pack, youâll not only get Hal Jordan (in his trademark Ferris Aircraft flight suit), but also his predecessor Abin Sur and his mentor/arch enemy Sinestro, both in different versions of their Green Lantern uniforms. And, for the first time in the JLU line, all of the heads in this pack are swappable, letting you play out the transformation of Hal Jordan from test pilot to Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814!… More >>

In the world of action figures, the JLU Hal Jordan special edition is the Holy Grail for Justice League action figure collectors. Only one hundred copies were ever made, and then the tool for the head was destroyed. It was produced as a special “Thank You” Christmas gift for folks at Warner Brothers Animation, DC Comics and the JLU team at Mattel in 2006. Each one was signed by JLU co-creater and Producer Bruce Timm. Mattel has made it very clear that they will never produce a copy of the special item again.
The JLU Green Lantern origins 3 Pack is as close as any of us collectors are going to get to a Hal Jordan Green Lantern figure. I know, this doesn’t make much sense at all, especially with the 2009 release of the animated Green Lantern movie on DVD, but that’s how Mattel does business sometimes.
So what have the folks at Mattel done, to keep their promise of never ever producing another copy of Hal Jordan Green Lantern? For the first time ever this line consists of three figures with swappable heads! That’s right. You can remove the head of Hal Jordan, from the Ferris Aircraft flight suit figure and place it on the Green Lantern clad figures of Abin Sur or Sinestro and presto, you have a copy of Hal Jordan Green Lantern. Granted, he is missing the green mask on his face, but how hard it that to draw on with a green Sharpie pen?
Now the bad news. This item was only available at the 2009 San Diego Comic Convention, and will not be sold in brick and mortar stores (like Target and Wal-Mart). So move fast and scarf up for the first and probably last time only, a JLU Hal Jordan Green Lantern action figure, without paying the hundreds of dollars that the original 100 copies would likely bring in if they ever hit the marketplace.
